Shinko 244 are pretty much one of the cheapest tires tires offered on the sector. The 244 has a dual intent street and trail design, tube type. It has a four ply rating. In shinko tires dot net's opinion, this is a 50/50 tire. It's a good selection for fast highway driving but you have to be careful with the tire pressure you set.
The Shinko 244 is suggested to run 26 to 28 psi maximum. Riding these tires on bigger pressure than that can result in chunking. A test at 33psi and excess the max weight standing will more than likely outcome in chunks on the tires. In our test, running it at 33 psi for 550 miles, the tires lost about 25% of the lugs. so, the recap is that if you use the Shinko 244 within the set pressure and weight limits you will get a pretty good bang for your buck.
But this is not a motorcycle tire that can be safely run above the factory recommendations. Operating the tires the normal way makes it an excellent tire for the cash. 6000 miles are not a challenge, with several 700 mile non-stop runs at about 250 lbs weight. There were no troubles with operating this setup.
A second tier of tests, mostly 75-80 miles interstate, pressure set somewhere between 32 and 35 psi. We got 6300 miles out of this tire, in the the summer months. IN the cold months on cold asphalt we got 5500 miles out if due to the cold reducing the tread speedier. Operating the Shinko 244 in a right way is important as with any other motorcycle tire. We've had an high-priced dunlop 606 chunk to rubble without placing much heat to it, so price is not always equal to quality.
The shinko tires' warrantee states that if a tire has failure that is due to the production process, it will be serviced through the vendor. If a tire is worn though, they will most likely not replace it. This is a very good warranty and you can rest assured that if you have problems with your shinko tires you can have Shinko help you with the trouble. Another good thing to know is that when the GP1 tire was stopped from manufacturing Shinko bought the pattern. The knobs are a bit smaller than the gp1 and the rating of the tires are different though, so it's not the same thing.
To summarize, the Shinko 244 motorcycle tires are a great buy for the cash they are selling for. It is not the best out there, but it is in all probability the best in it's price class. Verdict - recommended for the price. An user commented:
I have got just about 6000 miles on a set and can say they are a good tire at a good value. I can quickly get an additional 500-750 miles out of this set. They've been good on the road and great in the dirt. I've been on individual and double-track, gravel streets and rocky techie stuff. You can't go incorrect with these. The simply caution is that they take several hundred miles to scrub in and grip well.
