Men cheat even when they know that the consequences will be a broken hearted wife and a broken home. Knowing this, why do men cheat? What is it that makes them act out on their desires even knowing what the consequences will be? Many articles have been written about the subject of spousal infidelity. Researchers, scientists and Doctors have all weighted in on the subject. But what do the men that cheat say about the matter? What are the reasons that they themselves give for their actions? Weather you agree with the reasons or not, here they are! The top reasons cheaters use as an excuse:

I am bored with the same sex: cheating husbands often use this excuse. They state that having sex with the same woman becomes boring. After a few years, they claim that the sex becomes routine and predictable. They begin to crave something new. They want a new body, new positions, new sounds....

Not enough sex: Another excuse for why men cheat is that they do not get enough sex at home. "Not tonight" or "I have a headache" is a very common excuse that is used to justify infidelity. While it is true (according to some studies), that men want sex more than women, this one is particularly bad. It is bad because it shifts the blame away from the man to his wife. It says" It's her fault I am cheating on her"

Its just sex: It is a fact that men view sex differently then women. Men separate sex from love while most women kind of see them as one whole unit. Men believe that sex and love are two separate things that can occur independently of each other. Their view is that it's only sex and that they are not betraying the love they have for their wives. Even if you believe that this distinction is made and that it is a valid one, fortunately most men are smart and loving enough not to act out on their desires using this logic. Cheaters however, love to use this one!

She is a pain in the "you know what": Men that are unfaithful use this one a lot. The logic is that their wives are such pains that they drove them into the arms of a more understanding and nicer woman. This rates on the same level as the "not enough sex" excuse in that it shifts blame away from the man and puts it squarely on the wife.

The thrill of the hunt: Men that use this excuse find it hard to resist a challenge. They like the sensation of being on the edge. They like the possibility of being caught and relish the dangers that are inherent in having an affair. It's like skydiving with only one chute, or rock climbing without safety equipment.

These are the excuses that cheating husbands use to justify their actions. Whether they believe these excuses for cheating and infidelity is questionable. If nothing else, this information gives us some insight into the justifications about the question "why do men cheat?"
