When you are searching for a flatshare to let in the United Kingdom , take time to do your research about the locations you would like to live, and the rental charges for comparable properties in that area.

You may be able to find a flatshare advertised with a letting agent or you could find a privately advertised property from an online flatshare website.
You will also find that your local supermarket (Tesco, ASDA, Sainsburys etc) and newsagents in the neighbourhood of your choice, will usually have a notice board where local landlords put up adverts of rooms to let and items for sale or to buy.

If you are using a letting agent, then it is more likely that you will be expected to pay a deposit and some or all of the rent as a deposit in advance.
The agent may also decide he/she requires a reference or more and a credit check to make sure that you are a UK resident or have permission to live or study in the UK, the credit check may involve a full financial report from an official credit reference agency and you will usually have to pay for this yourself.

A private advert on the other hand may involve a simple interview and a meeting at the property which will include a viewing of the property and the presentation of a proof of income and/or recent bank statements.

If this is the case then remember that you are interviewing the landlord as much as they are interviewing you, and you should use this opportunity to discover intricate details about the flatshare and the lease which include details like bill arrangements, cleaning arrangements and maintenance reaction times.

It may sound fussy but imagine if you agree to occupy a flatshare to let and pay your rent every week but your landlord fails to pay the bills. At best you may find that the internet or telephone has been disconnected, in the worst possible scenario you may find yourself in the position of answering the front door to be confronted by bailiffs.

Of course most lettings encounter no problems and lifelong friends can be made when sharing living space but it is reasonable to gather as much information as possible on the flat you wish to share before signing any agreements.

Private listings on the internet are an excellent means of finding a new place to live - you can view photographs, videos, chat and read full length descriptions before making contact with the landlord or letting agent and then communicate via email, phone or sms text messages to clarify any queries or issues you may have with the property before arranging viewings and spending time travelling to the property to inspect it.

The Lettings Mall have flatshares, residential and commercial properties advertised for rent all over the UK and it is well known for advertising private and commercial listings of flatshares and other properties .

You can also sign up for email notifications and/or text alerts of new flatshare to let to be forwarded to you as soon as it is listed.
