Where staying healthy is concerned, everyone knows just how important it is to take in enough Vitamin C. Everybody is always talking about just how much Vitamin C can help a person. Of course, what is the first thing people say after you catch a cold? "Take some Vitamin C!" Today, though, there is a little bit of concern about if Vitamin C would stop the common cold at all.
By now you have no doubt already been advised about Echinacea. The basic idea behind Echinacea is, if you take it once you feel the first few cold symptoms, you will be able to keep that cold from setting in. Recently, however, studies have verified that Echinacea provides little more than a placebo effect for the people suffering from cold and flu symtoms. The greatest the supplement are capable of doing is reduce your cold by twenty hours. It isn't any cure.
So precisely what do you do to help keep the colds at a distance? Keep studying to find out how to help yourself.
1. Clean your hands. Wash the hands often. This is just about the greatest and most surefire ways to truly ward off a common cold. How come this is so effective? Think about it for just a second. Your hands will come into contact with flu and cold germs than any other part of your body. Have you ever previously considered all you touch throughout the day? Every time you touch some thing or surface that has been touched by someone who is struggling with the flu or a cold, your chances of getting sick are increased. If you are washing your hands frequently, it is less likely that any of the millions of cold and flu microbes you make contact with each day will work their way in to your system.
2. Get lots and lots of sleep. It's tempting, particularly when times are aggravating, to stay up late. Perhaps you have more work to get accomplished. You want to spend more time with pals. There's a show you really would like to watch. Doing this, however, cuts down on the rest you will get. You will need to give your body enough rest so that it will have the power to fight off any infections that want to set in. When you happen to be sleeping and asleep your body has a chance to do maintenance and make repairs. The more rest you get, the easier a time your system will have preventing infection and then getting rid of it if it happens to take hold of you anyway.
3. Make sure you are correctly hydrated. The human body needs at least sixty four ounces of water a day to survive. Your body needs the hydration to help it get rid of the harmful toxins that have taken up residence in your system. If you don't get the correct hydration, microbes hang out inside of you instead of being flushed out. Keep in mind: you can go at least seven days without eating solid food before you die. You can only go just one or two without having water. Doesn't this make the importance of proper hydration hit home?
The issue is: there isn't any mysterious cure for the common cold. All you have is your personal good sense and proper preventative procedures like keeping clean, resting a lot and drinking a good amount of water.
