Spyware is a program that records all the actions of the computer. It is not a package but it will come in numerous or more specific form. Each type has diffferent functions and it has also their own ways of getting information from your computer.
Domestic spyware It is installed to monitor the recording and activity of the computer user. It is a spyware that is usually used by businesses to tract their employees or by parents to monitor their children.
Commercial spyware Commercial spyware, meanwhile, are downloaded and installed without the user's permission. It collects information from your pc. It is mostly used by private companies for advertising or other purposes.
Adware Also known as adbot, an adware or advertising-supported software is a program that instantly displays advertisements in a computer whenever you go online. It is generally harmless but it usually contains spyware that are automatically downloaded.
Keyloggers It works by recording all you make in your keyboard and it is considered as one of the most destructive kinds of spyware. These information could be saved for a while or it can also be sent instantly. Keyloggers record passwords, PIN numbers, contact numbers, and just about everything that you type. It works by stealing your personal information and give them access to your mail.
Internet URL loggers & screen recorders It monitors your Internet activity. The URL loggers record the pages you have visited online. Screen recorders record grayscale snapshots of your screen. These are commonly used for domestic purposes.
Homepage Hijackers This spyware changes the homepage of your Web browser to something else, like porn sites or sites advertising products. This is an annoying spyware because no matter how many times you change the homepage, it will still lead you to the same site. Hijackers do this by placing Internet shortcuts in your "Favorites" folder without your permission.
Web bugs It is a type of spyware that generates pop-up when you make certain actions in your computer such using the searchbox. Even though you are no longer connected to the internet, pop-ups will still continue to appear.
Dialers Dialers connect your computer to other computers through your phone line if you happen to use a telephone modem to support your Internet connection. It makes money by making expensive calls, surprising you on your next phone bill. This spyware will dramatically affect your finances rather than stealing your personal information.
