And usually allows you to purchase at bulk prices, saving you money, which buying at your local craft store doesn't offer. But before you sit down to buy, there are some things of note to mention.

If you are just getting started in the field, I would suggest spending time in that local craft store. Even if you don't purchase anything, you need to have a real physical sense of what you are buying. An online store will present you with the most beautiful version of that bead they have got. They are going to blow up the image, distorting it's actual size, and light it with various bright lights. This is all right, but know, that in regular light, hanging on someones neck, it may look completely different.

If you buy beads online you should be familiar with measurements. Most of the beads are measured in millimeters. A four millimeter bead utilized on a ring that will probably be worn on a little hand, could be very big. The average ruler in your home has millimeters on it, so possibly keep that on hand while browsing on line. Carry it with you during buying, so you get a sense of what four millimeters looks like in the round.

Remember that lighting I mentioned? We don't go under a spot light. You can actually buy beads online in garnet. They were the most beautiful deep blood red; well suited for your work. But once received in the mail, at home, in your kitchen, they are so dark they appear to be black. And then you would pull out a flashlight and see that they are in fact red, but just day to day they may appear as plain black beads. Don't be very displeased. Sparkle is exactly the same. It may glare on the screen and just be average after you get it home. Remember, that is a lot of trial and error, learning to discern the way things are featured versus reality.
