Parks and Recreation (sometimes referred to as Parks and Rec) is an American comedy television series that airs on NBC. It was co-created by Greg Daniels and Michael Schur, part of the creative team on the NBC version of The Office.

Despite initial speculation it would be a spin-off of The Office, the two programs are not related beyond using the same mockumentary style and one of the same actresses, Rashida Jones, playing a different character.


Leslie's best friend is local nurse Ann Perkins, whom she meets when Ann's boyfriend Andy Dwyer falls into a large pit near their house. Leslie takes on the quest to turn the pit into a park, which becomes her ultimate personal project. However, she finds herself repeatedly frustrated by bureaucrats and townspeople who stand in her way. While the pit-park storyline occupied the show's first season, the pit was filled in during second season, and the plot gradually began to explore Leslie's other projects and personal issues, including a fledgling romance. The second season also focuses on the personal lives of all the Parks Department employees, as well as Ann's new romance with Mark and April's affections for Ann's ex-boyfriend, Andy.

With the third season of PARKS AND RECREATION closely approaching, Daemon's TV thought we might give you a little sneak peak into the new season! I'm a huge fan of Parks and Recreation, and was really lucky to see the first six episodes before they hit the airwaves on January 20th.

Well, the first several episodes of season 3 will fill in a few gaps and will also make you laugh possibly harder than you ever have at Parks and Recreation. Work is back in session, but with many, MANY limitations. Enter Leslie Knope who takes matters into her own hands and tries to make things all right in the world.

he beginning of season 3 takes us a little deeper into Ben's past, and his run as mayor of his hometown when he was 18. We also discover that while Ben isn't a great (or even a mediocre) public speaker when it comes to the press, his slip ups are so funny, that they're forgivable.

The fate of Andy and April was what I was the most excited about in season 3. So imagine my surprise when their relations doesn't play out the way that I had expected from the start. I love Andy - he's hands down my favorite character in the show - with April coming in a close second.

Overall, season 3 gets off to a great start. What will happen with The Harvest Festival? Will Leslie be able to save her department? Will Ann and Chris become Pawnee's next hot couple? Will Ron and Tom come to blows? What about Andy and April?All of these questions (and more!) will be answered when Parks and Recreation returns for it's third season on January 20th at 9:30pm on NBC. I could write a book because I feel THAT passionately about Parks and Recreation as one of the best (best written, best acted and, perhaps most important of all, best at making you feel gosh-darn good) comedies on TV right now, and I want everyone in the world to agree with me if they don't already. I want George Washington to look down from heaven and think, "Oh no, my one regret for having created America instead of living in America's future is that I was dead before I got a chance to watch Parks and Recreation." I honestly want that. I want George Washington's ghost to be jealous of US.

But who would want to read a boring old book when they could just watch Parks and Recreation and see what I mean with his or her very own eyeballs? How many ways are there to say, "This show is the best, and you're only robbing yourself of fun by reading a dumb book instead"?

A large part of this is thanks to a new central conflict for the Parks department, to which we were introduced briefly last season: Pawnee is in government crisis mode, and Leslie must now justify the existence of her department (and, by extension, herself) or see it get eliminated under the Odd Couple hands of state budget-cutters Chris and Ben. Much like the P-Rex writers themselves, Leslie and her gang flourish under the pressure, and this new conflict--and Leslie's big solution, bringing back the annual Pawnee Harvest Festival--both raises the stakes and the hilarity, especially with all the new opportunities it gives the effervescent Leslie and hard-nosed Ben to work together.
