Amway Scam - truth or total garbage? So, exactly what made you click on the link to this post? Are you looking for dirt on Amway or are you a defensive Amway rep looking to shield you beloved business? Let's delve into the phenomenon known as Amway and answer the question Amway Scam - Truth or Fiction?

Amway is definitely not the new kid on the block. The company has held it's place in business since 1959, founded by Jan Van Andel and Richard DeVos. By the end of 2009, Amway and the family of businesses under Alticor reported $8.4 billion in sales. Forbes documented Amway among the biggest private companies in the United States, and Deloitte rated it as one of the biggest retailers on the planet. Not bad, right?

Amway is a very profitable and highly regarded business in the mlm industry. The Amway products are outstanding and they're backed by a money-back assurance. Amway scam or opportunity? Let's consider the facts.

You're Invited to a Business Opportunity Meeting.

This is how most people learn about the Amway opportunity. The name "Amway" is seldom mentioned. The goal is to get you to a meeting in which you are introduced to the products and the opportunity to make a lot of money. Amway is a MLM company - Multi-Level Marketing. This refers to the marketing structure that is designed to pay a seller for their individual product sales, and also the product sales of those that they bring in to the company. Amway is not a pyramid scam, even though you might hear it referred to as an mlm scam - thus the phrase "Amway scam" is known as.

The Amway opportunity is generally pitched as a "win-win" system whereby men and women believe that they simply cannot lose. If it truly were that simple, finding customers and business partners wouldn't be that hard. There is no real Amway scam, however, there are 3 things that could possibly be misleading.

3 Things That Could Mislead a Newcomer.

1. It will be easy.

You will hear that generating product sales is easy because you can go to your friends, family and acquaintances to sell your products or services. That is a bunch of garbage however. While family and friends are usually happy to assist in the beginning, they'll get sick and tired of being pushed into continuously purchasing from you. These old and obsolete advertising models don't work any longer. No one wants to bother their friends and family. If you want to be successful as an Amway rep then you will want to learn how to use the web to market your business. You need to uncover qualified prospects who are interested in your opportunity.

2. You are able to fit this business into your spare time and work on it just a few hours per week.

To make a real income in Amway, you'll have to work more than simply a few hours each week. There are many factors that you need to consider too. For example, what are your sales and personality skills? Are you a people person? Do you make new friends easily? Are you going to have to spend some time getting sales coaching and acquiring that set of skills? The truth is that it's extremely hard to have success as an Amway distributor using the enterprize model that they currently have in place. Understand that old marketing techniques just don't work any longer.

3. Amway provides the best way to be your own boss and gain true independence.

This is totally not true. In truth, IBOs (Independent Business Owners) are not exactly entrepreneurs. They do not have 100% control. There is a hierarchy and the orders still come from the top. However, if "true independence" is not important to you, then this is a moot point.

The truth is that there is no Amway scam. It's a good strong and reputable company that has stood the test of time. The problem that Amway encounters though is that their distributors are dropping like flies because of internet marketing companies that are scooping up their distributors in droves. Why are they losing countless distributors?

Amway distributors are sick and tired of facing rejection from pounding their friends and family and cold contacting people at malls and gas stations. These internet marketing companies are teaching their distributors how to make significant incomes from home using targeted internet marketing techniques such as social internet marketing, search engine optimization techniques, blogging, and every other form of marketing on the internet.

The reason why this model is much more attractive than Amway's is because you're dealing with qualified prospects rather than being an MLM pusher. The key is to attract qualified prospects into your business if you wish to have success in any multilevel marketing business.
