As old domains get even older they tend to get even better traffic results. Numerous reasons exist for this. These can include backlinks from other websites, higher search engine rankings, and a lot more traffic than newer domains.

While it's possible to get a new domain for cheap, old domains have a lot going for them. If you're wondering "Are there internet sites that can find me a domain name that already exists for sale", yes there are many out there.

Search engine rankings determine how high on your list of results a website is going to be. If you have a site that sells DVDs at a discount, type in DVDs at a discount and the position of your site on the search list is its ranking for that term. Remember that some sites will rank number one because they paid to be there. It is still possible to outrank them, though, which makes this a costly and unnecessary activity.

For people in the business, the search engine ranking will determine how much they are willing to sell a domain name for. Older domains have an advantage mostly because Google and other search engines determine page rank by the number of times their spiders have crawled through the site. Older websites will actually rank higher than sites that are paying to be higher up the rank listings.

All right. You've decided it's time to get a domain. But, now you ask yourself, "How do I find me a domain name?" Old, established websites often have a regular customer base that visits them. This means more benefit for you, but it also comes at a higher price. Purchasing a popular domain is the best case scenario for you if you can afford it, as it will save a lot of time and effort in building your customer base. You are better off with a well-known domain name than with an unknown site. And don't forget the golden rule of business and small talk: keep it simple! Consider that a webpage with a name like "screwdrivers.com" will be a lot easier from someone to remember than "Steve's Discount Screwdriver Warehouse.com". Some pages may simply be unavailable and others that are more desirable may end up costing you an arm and a leg.

Of course it varies exponentially from situation to situation which is the best thing for you to do. You can't spend a large amount of money on a domain name if you simply do not have the money to spend. You should have other alternatives in mind, as well as be willing to do research and shop around for the best price. You will not go wrong if you can buy an older domain.
