You’ve seen it a hundreds of times, well maybe not HUNDREDS of times, but a lot of times...that little sentence on the bottom of some fancy event invitation that reads “dress code: black tie”. Oh grrrreat. Time to squeeze into my very formal, uncomfortable, too tight, floor length, black dress that no one ever compliments me on anyway, joy.

Well I have news for you! Black tie does not necessarily mean “wear a black dress”. It means wear a fancy dress. But have fun with it! Go for something that will “wow” people. In other words, what I am saying is....GO NUDE!

No, I do not mean go to the ball in your birthday suit. What I am trying to say is that nude colored dresses are showing up more and more at these types of events. It creates a beautiful effect with a mix of daring, class, and sex appeal. Because of the nature of the color, from afar, the wearer appears to be...well...naked, just for a split second before logic kicks in. And that my dears is just pure fun. You will be the envy of all the women thinking “why didn’t I think of that” and you will be on the minds of all the men, for obvious reasons.

Some famous examples of nude dresses are Angelina Jolie in Versace at the Cannes “Inglorious Bastards” premiere.

Kate Hudson at the Academy Awards, also in Versace.

Drew Barrymore in Versace at the Golden Globes.

Penelope Cruz at the Oscars in Versace (so weird how these are all Versace!)

And the list could go on and on. But bottom line, these nude dresses are incredibly sexy, classy, and chic too. I’m telling you, go out and find yourself a knockout nude dress for your next formal event, you will be the sneaky understated golden girl that everyone cannot take their eyes off of. Unless there is another women there in a nude dress...then, unfortunately, you will have to share the lime light. So make sure you set yourself apart with contrasting makeup (maybe a red lip) and wear your hair up or back to show off the dress. Add nude or metallic sky high heels plus the proper sparkly baubles and you are off to enjoy the ball, Cinderella.
