Photographs is a opportunity to capture those wonderful day's greatest moments and preserve them for years, and generations to come.
You have several options when arranging this:
1. The DIY option - throw away camera's you supply or put on each table. If you have a bigger budget, you can even supply each couple with one. Or ask everyone to bring their own camera.
2. The ‘Best' Friend or Colleague - recruit that friend who's always taking pictures on outings, birthdays, etc. or the colleague who's always doing the team building, office party, etc. photographs.
3. A Professional - they normally do package deals which includes the photography and videography.
The first option is great for those couples on a budget. Unfortunately the quality of the pictures and variety of shots taken might not always be good. On the upside, if its digital camera's being used, it's very convenient and you're able to take so much more pictures. You'll even be able to create a picture slideshow for your guests on the night. Just make sure you know who to contact for the photo's so that you don't struggle for weeks at end to try and collect all the pictures taken.
The second option is even better, but is for a couple with a bigger (medium sized) budget. If you know the person - if more than one, even better, you've recruited well, you've got the advantage of knowing their style of photography, through years of first-hand experience. Make sure to discuss the shots you want taken upfront. You can then offer them something in return or a small fee for their trouble. Again, just make sure you follow up with the collection of the pictures. A compact disk can be made with all the pictures on it. This way you can take your time filtering through the pictures and selecting the best ones for print. You can even make copies on disk for friends and family who attended the event.
The first option is of course, the more traditional route taken. Make sure you pic someone who's got more that enough experience with weddings or even specializes in weddings. Make sure they provide you with a portfolio and know exactly what your expectations are, before providing you with a quotation. Like mentioned before, most photographers can even provide you with a videographer option.
Also contact your venue for preferred references or vendor. This way you'll get more value for money and spend less time on taking the pictures on the day, cause the photographer knows the venue and surrounding areas well. He'll most probably have great locations already set up or picked out for your convenience. A great example is Fort Lauderdale weddings. You can receive great package deals, if you're on a budget, especially if you combine it with a beach wedding. Miami weddings are known for the amazing beach weddings. This is also a great idea for those couples eloping or who want's a destination wedding. It's a all-in-one option.
