As most know an outdoor wedding is the ultimate way to start your lives together. It's something most brides dream of, but never do, due to fear that something might go wrong or the fact that one can't control the weather.

No problem! Just keep the following in mind and you should not experience any predicaments.

1. Make sure you don't require permission or a special permit, if it's a public space. For example, having a Florida beach wedding requires a special permit.

2. Check the weather forecast for the area, from previous years, considering your specific season or date, as well as current forecasts. If you're still undecided on a date, it will give you a good idea of when would be the ideal day or what the weather would be like on the day, if, on the other hand, you have already decided.

3. Make sure you've made alternative arrangements - venue, sound, umbrellas, etc. and keep them on standby for if things do turn for the worst.

It's always great if you can find a venue with both alternatives. Having a Fort Lauderdale wedding is the perfect example. If the outside gazebo area is not available, due to unforeseen circumstances, the chapel and venue is.

4. If you're expecting warm weather, make sure your guests are happy and comfortable. This is especially important in the case of a destination wedding - guest always forget to pack some things. Keep sunscreen, water, towels, even fans available in case.

5. With the sun and being outdoors, there are also those pesky insects. For example, flies. Make sure you have made arrangements for it. A good idea is citronella lamp oil or candles. It not only is functional, but looks great!

6. Make sure the DJ or Band has a back-up plan in place, in case sound is a problem - for example: the crashing of waves, or wind, etc. Clip-on microphones for the bride and groom, and during speeches, for guests, family and/or friends, are always a good idea.

7. Being outdoors, you normally don't need much décor, but if you do have, make sure it's sturdy, tied down and will last, no matter what weather. If you have flowers, make sure you have potted alternatives, that won't wilt easily.

8. If you're catering outside, make sure to avoid catering that has to stay cold, like salads, ice sculptures, etc. Also make sure your guests stay hydrated. A punch or cocktails is always a very popular idea.

9. Of course, the sunset as a backdrop is always the ideal. Make sure the sun is not in the eyes of your guests and you know the approximate time sunset will occur.

All of the above, essentially, comes down to planning. Never be afraid to ask questions. Make sure all angles are covered and you‘ll experience the most unforgettable, romantic day.
