Cricket has grown to be one of the most chosen sports through out the world; as a result there are many variations and game types to pick from. One of the most recently developed game types is twenty20. Twenty20 was invented in 2003 for professional matches and ever since then it has been quite often used around the world. Here recently twenty20 has actually turned into a championship world wide event. The twenty20 champions league began in 2008 and has been very successful ever since .

Twenty20, or T20 cricket as it is sometimes called, is generally accepted across the world as the official competitive cricket game type. Perhaps the biggest reason why twenty20 caught on is the game length. Unlike tradition cricket matches, a twenty20 match lasts about three hours usually; placing it in line with other popular sporting events. This also makes it much easier for twenty20 matches to be broadcast on television.

In most cases, twenty20 uses the standard cricket rules with a few exceptions. The largest differences involve placement and use of fielders; though there are a few other small rule changes as well. Of course twenty20 has received criticism ever since it was created; though in general twenty20 has been quite successful worldwide.

In most cases twenty20 is definitely very close to traditional cricket; surprisingly people have definitely seen a difference though. Many critics say twenty20 is a much more exciting and athletic form of cricket. As a result many schools and children's clubs throughout the world have also started using twenty20 because it has better exercise than many other sports.

Other than twenty20 there are several other variations of cricket as well; though none of them have become nearly as famous. Besides twenty20 Test cricket is generally considered to be the most refined and traditional form of cricket. Unfortunately due to the length of Test matches it is very slowly losing popularity around the globe.
