UFC is a relatively new sport overall though the idea behind it is not new at all. In general UFC is just a combination of many different fighting styles not limited to mixed martial arts and boxing. UFC has grown to be a lot more famous in recent years due to the media exposure it has received; though it has always been pretty famous worldwide.

The rules for UFC vary depending on a few factors; though in most cases the principles remain the same. The winner is decided based on a few factors; if a competitor is knocked unconcious or submits to their opponent they automatically lose the fight. If neither of these happens then the winner is usually picked by the fight judges based upon points given to each fighter.

Similar to boxing, UFC is divided into weight categories for fairness. Fighters are weighed before each fight to make sure they are within the weight class; other than weight there are very limited category restrictions. Unlike many other fighting sports UFC does not restrict what types of attacks can be used; UFC allows everything from kick boxing to martial arts in each fight.

Here recently UFC has also become a popular sport for people to gamble on. Previously boxing claimed the title for highest betting profit but UFC managed to take the win in 2007. Thanks to the large success in the United States UFC has successfully spread to many nations across the globe. Of course American UFC matches are still very famous in other nations as well.

As expected UFC has gone through much harsh criticism from the general public and many political figures. Millions of people view UFC as too violent and dangerous. As a result a lot of places have officially banned UFC from having fights in the state; of course major fights are still broadcast on television throughout the globe on pay per view.
