A mesh of bohemian bars and Victorian architecture lines the streets along the coastline of sheer cliffs. The laid back atmosphere and attractiveness of the area have inspired generations of writers and poets, including the Nobel Peace-winning poet Pablo Neruda.
·Torres del Paine National Park. This park was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978. It lies between the Andes and Patagonian steppe and is made up of snow-clad mountains, glacier lakes and a few of the best hiking tours that Chile has to offer.
·Skiing. Skiing perhaps isn’t the initial thought that crosses your mind once you think about travelling to South America but the Andes offer amazing and low cost skiing in the height of summer. Many tours take you down the slopes of frozen volcanoes, across glaciers and abseiling but there's also the luxury that you'll be used to at the ski resorts, but for a lot less money than in Europe or the USA.
·San Pedro de Atacama. Located in Chile’s Norte Chico northern area, San Pedro de Atacama is among Chile’s hottest tourist towns. ·Volcanoes. Chile is covered in volcanoes and is additionally home to the world’s tallest active volcano, Ojos del Salado, which lies in the Andes, on the border with Argentina.
